A Shari’a Court in Rigasa, Kaduna, Kaduna State, has ordered a father, Shamsu Umar, to pay N20,000 as monthly feeding allowance for the upkeep of his children.
The judge, Malam Muhammad Adamu, gave the order after granting custody of their children to their mother, Zainab Sulaiman.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Muhammad also ordered Shamsu to continue taking care of their children’s education, health and clothing.
Earlier, Zainab had prayed the court to grant her custody of their two children, while compelling her estranged husband to take care of their needs.
She further asked the court to compel Shamsu to release their first child whom he had had in his custody for five weeks.
In his defense, Shamsu complained that his estranged wife, being a teacher, had no time to look after their children, as they usually roamed the street.
