A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, granted an application for amendment of names on the court process in a fundamental human rights suit brought against the Department of State Services (DSS) by the 12 detained the advocate for Yoruba nation, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.

At yesterday’s proceedings, the DSS produced only eight out of the 12 detained associates of Igboho.

Those brought to court are; Amudat Babatunde (aka Lady K), Tajudeen Erinoye, Diekola Ademola Jubril, Abidemi Shittu, Jamiu Noah Oyetunji, Ayobami Donald, Raji Kazeem and Bamidele Sunday.

The trial Judge, justice Obiora Egwuatu granted the request for amendment of court processes following an application to that effect by the applicants’ counsel, Polumi Olajemgbesi praying the court for amendment on discrepancies in the names listed on the court processes.

Counsel to the DSS, Idowu Awo did not oppose the application, which he said was at the discretion of the court.

Justice Egwuatu accordingly granted the application for amendment of the names on the court process and adjourned the matter to August 4 for continuation.

The judge also directed the DSS to produce all applicants in the next adjourned date, following an observation by the applicants’ counsel that only eight out of the 12 arrested applicants were present in court in spite of the court’s last directive to produce all the applicants in court on Monday.

The Judge had earlier held that the order of the court ought to be obeyed to the letter after which the DSS can subsequently offer explanations for their detention.

Applicants in the matter are Abdulateef Ofeyagbe, Amoda Babatunde, Tajudeen Erinoyen, Diakola Ademola, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Noah, and Ayobami Donald.

Others are Adelabe Usman, Oluwapelimi Kunle, Raji Kazeem, Taiwo Opeyemi and Bamidele Sunday.

The two respondents in the matter are DSS Director-General and the security agency.
