Court fixes March 25 for continued hearing on Ajah traditional stool

Justice Olubukola Aigbokhaevbo of the Lagos High Court, Eti-Osa Division, on Tuesday, fixed March 25 for continued hearing on the suit to determine the rightful heir to the Ajah traditional stool.

The claimants are Adisa Ojupon, Rasaki Ogunsemo, Kabiru Ogunsemo, and Shamsideen Ojupon instituted the suit on behalf of the Ogunsemo and Ojupon ruling house of Ajah against the defendants including the attorney general of Lagos, the commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, the Chieftaincy Committee Eti-Osa LGA and the secretary of the Olumegbon family, Adeshina Machado.

At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, the judge urged the defendants to sought out issues bordering on legal representation following a mild drama that ensued between the defence counsel and the defendants.

Meanwhile, the court awarded a fine of N500,000 against the defendants over delays in the suit.

Defence counsel Alaba Okukpe informed the defendants of his inability to continue the case while urging any counsel undertaking their representation should abide by the rules of professional ethics.

Meanwhile, the incoming counsel to the Olumegbon family informed the court that he would go back to resolve the issue of representation before the next adjourned date.
