An Area Court sitting at Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State has dissolved the 34-year-old marriage between a woman, Ibrahim Aduke and her husband, Ishola Akanbi, due to lack of love.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the presiding judge, AbdulQadir Umar, who dissolved their union ordered that Aduke should observe the Islamic three months Iddah (mandatory seclusion) period before any other marriage.
He also granted her custody of the two children produced by their marriage.
The court also ordered that the defendant pay N20,000 monthly for the upkeep of the two children, pay their school fees as agreed and have access to the children at reasonable time.
The applicant filed for divorce and custody of their children due to lack of love on March 27, but the defendant sought for settlement.
The judgment was made due to the report of settlement, which stated that the two parties could not settle their misunderstanding and insisted on divorce.
