A High Court sitting in Lagos State has declared Most Elder Adebayo Abiola, as the Supreme Head (Olori) of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Nigeria, thereby putting an end to the leadership crisis rocking the church since the demise of the immediate past head, His Most Eminence Akinsanya.
The court, in a judgment delivered by Justice Lawal Akapo, noted that Elder Abiola was duly selected and presented to The Registered Trustees of The Sacred C&S Unification Church (first defendant) by The Registered Trustees of the Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Nigeria, as the Supreme Head of the church in accordance with its constitution.
The court also gave an order of perpetual injunction restraining Elder Alao from occupying the office of the Supreme Head, as well as, restrained Elder Apostle David Salako, who was the fourth defendant in the matter, from releasing or parting with the staff of office of the Supreme Head to the first defendant, the Secretary General of the church, Apostle Akin Owolabi and Apostle Alao, respectively.
Addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, last Friday, Abiola advised Alao to obey the judgment and stop parading himself as the head of the church.
Abiola said he approached the court to challenge the “self nomination” of Elder Alao as the leader of the church, who, according to him, “was not nominated but only got himself nominated and proclaimed the Supreme Head.”
He said: “The orders of court are clear and unambiguous. Sacred C&S Church of Nigeria has taken its turn to fill the vacant position of Supreme Head (Olori) of the C&S Unification Church of Nigeria.”
