Corruption to attract immediate sack, Gov Umahi warns

EBONYI State Government has threatened to sack staffs of the state college of education immediately a gross misconduct and misappropriation is found in the institution.

Governor Umahi stated these during the inauguration of the institution board chaired by the formal minister of health state Engr. Fidelis Nwankwo.

According to Governor Umahi who advised the boards to reposition the institutions in running all activities of the college, advised them to ensure that the school do not go on strike as their presence in school remain the only way of encouraging the student and generating funds.

He, therefore, called on the management to always call for dialogue than embarking on strike whenever they found difficulties.

“We have to reposition that college of education, you have to reposition it to do things differently. I want us to do anything, a new thing has to be evolved in the running of the college of education.

“I am not happy with the management techniques. When I was in China, I got the message they were on strike but I am happy that peace has returned.

“The worst thing for any institution is to say they are going on strike, it very unthinkable because dialogue remains the best way of resolving the problem. If you go on strike, the students will no longer be able to pay the fees they pay to you. So, it is an unwise thing to go on strike. People go on strike when there are a means and it is not deployed to meet their needs.

I want to say vehemently that if I get a report of corruption in the College of Education, I will sack the management. I have given respect to the Chairman because I can’t just act. You have to cleanse the system, put the house in order.
