As the Igbedi and AIT-Elebele outer Ring Road project reaches 95 per cent completion, the chairman of Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Ebiye Tarabina, has charged contractors handling other government projects to be conscious of standard and specifications.
Tarabina made the call during an inspection visits to ongoing road projects across the state, further explaining that there are cases in which contractors cut corners and built sub-standard projects.
He further said that the present administration was fully committed to the infrastructure development of the state, stressing that contractors should ensure projects were executed according to the best of standard.
He said the projects were significant for the present and future development of the state, noting that it was imperative for contractors to abide by the terms of agreement to deliver as and when due.
At the Igbedi road project, the chairman commended the company handling the project, PAACIE Construction Limited, for the quality and pace of work achieved, while urging the contractor to sustain the tempo.
The General Manager of the company, Mr. Sarkis Abichmount, said that 80 per cent of the job had been achieved, while pledging to complete the project ahead of schedule.
At the Sagbama/Ekeremor road project, the chairman lauded the contractor for the milestones recorded on the project, urging the contractor to intensify efforts for the speedy completion of the project.
Other projects inspected during the tour include concrete pavement at Ayamasa, ongoing Glory-Drive road project, AIT/Igbogene outer ring road, Opolo/AIT road, Elebele Bridge and the maintenance and rehabilitation work at Imiringi road.
