Why we constantly build capacity of COWLSO ―Ambode’s wife

Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode

WIFE of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, on Tuesday said members of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) are constantly being engaged in capacity building to update their knowledge and expose them to new ideas.

Mrs Ambode said this at a one-day training programme organized for COWLSO members at the Retirement Villa, Ajah area of Lagos, contending that the need for COWLSO members to continually improve themselves for domestic, social and professional purposes was the reason behind the training.

Topics delivered at the training are centred on Public Speaking, Etiquette, Protocol and Security.

According to her, constant training is expected to acquaint the officials with current trends and update their knowledge in relevant and vital areas, describing training and retraining as a major component of modern-day corporate and public service for performance leverage.

“Training and retraining is a major component of modern-day corporate and public service for performance leverage. It is also necessary for individual benefits at home and other engagements outside the home.

“We hold the view that self-improvement training will bring out optimal performance for those in paid employment. It will also help to bring out the best in us, in various personal businesses and our social interaction,” Mrs Ambode said.

On the topics, Mrs Ambode said they were apt and relevant to everyday living, adding that the topic on public speaking was essential for everyone in businesses, social relations and for politics.

She contended that the mastery of protocol as members of the elite was necessary for proper education to avoid needless embarrassment at public functions where strict adherence to protocol was required.

The topics were delivered by Mrs Adesua Onyenokwe (Public Speaking), Mrs Mavi Isiboh (Etiquette), Mrs Janet Adetu (Protocol) and Security (Acting Commissioner of Police, Edgar Imohimi).
