Umahi
The chairman of South-East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has maintained that there was no division in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state as being speculated in some quarters.
According to Umahi, “If one or two persons are not happy in the party does not mean that tomorrow, they will not be happy with the party.”
Umahi disclosed this at Pa Ngele Orunta Township Staduim, Abakaliki, during the APC state congress.
According to Umahi, “I want to specially thank the leaders of APC from the ward Congress to the state level. They have stood with the party.
“There might be one or two complains here and there but the spirit of oneness and togetherness and for the interest of the party, our leaders have made sacrifice, so that we can have the best.”
He said that his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC was a great gain to the people of the South-East region.
Umahi further noted that the South-East region, especially Ebonyi State, was prepared to give President Muhammadu Buhari and APC leadership all the support needed to succeed.
“I want our dear President to note that our party, APC in Ebonyi state is a great party and when positions are to be shared, you have to look at the tenacity of the party in each state.
“We will continue to support President Buhari and we will as well continue to support APC leadership at all levels. I want to congratulate those that are here to conduct the APC state Congress,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the APC congress was generally peaceful without any report of violence or parallel congress.
The caretaker committee chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, was elected the chairman of the party unopposed.
