Your conferment, call to duty—Olu of Warri

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, last weekend, in his palace in Warri, Delta State, told newly installed chiefs from the Warri kingdom to use their titles to serve the people.

“Your installation is a call to service. Don’t hesitate to share your wealth of experience and other meaningful opportunities at your disposal in advancing the progress of this kingdom,” the First Class monarch noted.

Recipients who ascended the ranks of Warri kingdom’s chiefs included renowned lawyer and Secretary, Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILOT), Edward Ekpoko, who was conferred with the title of Toruweju of Warri kingdom.

A daughter of the kingdom, Sen. Daisy Danjuma, wife of Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, also received the title, Agura Iwere of Warri.

Oil industry top player and Chairman, Lee Engineering and Construction Company, Dr. Leemon Ikpea of Edo State also got the title, Odowagbon of Warri.

Dr Ikpea, surprisingly, became the first non-Itsekiri to benefit the conferment of titles under Ogiame Ikenwole.

Other recipients were Tunde Ikoturoh, who was conferred with Ugo of Warri, alias Ugo Ni Were and Fred Edegbele who became the Ikenuwa of Warri kingdom.

The Olu of Warri charged his subjects to live peacefully among themselves and their neighbours.

Acknowledging the same peace message from governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Ogiame noted that “I am happy that this is coming from the mouth of the governor. That is what I have been preaching and today out neighbors are living more cordially with us.

Uvwie chiefs and some of our Ijaw brothers are here to celebrate with us today. They will not come if we don’t all want peace.”

Okowa during his speech declared that the time had come for all Deltans, irrespective of whatever differences, to embrace peace without option in the task of building a sound future for the state.

Dignitaries at the Aghofen Palace, Warri, at the 5th phase of the conferment of chieftaincy titles on various persons by His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, the Olu Warri ahead of his first coronation anniversary next month, included husband of one of the recipients, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, former NDDC boss, Timi Alaibe, PDP candidate for the just concluded Edo governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, former foreign affairs minister, Chief Tom Ikimi.

Others included National Secretary, APC, Sen. Osita Izunaso,  Nollywood icon, Emeka Ike, Prof. Nesin Omatseye and famed television personality, Chief Julie Coker as well as former Bendel state administrator, Brig. Gen. Tunde Ogbeha, the Enogie of Uromi kingdom and Capt. Hosa Okunbor, among others.
