Community, teachers, old students eulogise Sen Plang for fencing Plateau school

The entire community of Kabwir in the Kanke local government area of Plateau state, including teachers, students, the Parents’ Teachers Association (PTA), and students, have commended the Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, Senator Diket Plant, for fencing the entire perimeter of Government Secondary School, Kabwir, in the Council area.

Stakeholders of the community who thronged the school to inspect the ongoing project called on other elected political officeholders to emulate the senator by embarking on projects that would uplift the standard of living in their constituencies.

The Deputy Director of Education, Kanke local government area, Mr Haruna Sana Nyahas, who led the team, expressed gratitude to the senator for partnering with the education sector, saying that his immeasurable contributions have helped in the development of education in the locality.

He said that the senator is not only taking Kabwir, but the whole senatorial zone is feeling Plang’s giant stride in the sector.

“We have nothing but to say thank you. We’re so delighted for what he’s doing. If you look at this school five years ago, there was nothing to write home about, but with the intervention of Diket Plang, the school has undergone tremendous transformation.”

The principal of the school, Kwaship Samuel Dagon, said when completed, the school authority will be able to monitor the movement of the students during school hours and as well protect it from intruders.

Zakka Bundang, the president of the Old Students Association, expressed gratitude at the great feat, saying that with the perimeter fencing, the school is now protected.

Esther Phillibus, an official of PTA, asked staff and students to complement the efforts of the senator by ensuring that the school facilities aren’t vandalised.

Nyahas, who also spoke, said that the area inspectorate is very happy with Diket Plang’s contribution to education, not only in Kanke but in the entire senatorial zone.

The community leader, Ngolong Kabwir, represented by Ngolong Tuwan, Tongshinen Richard Gemba, said that Diket Plang’s magnanimity does not only stop at education but also in touching the lives of the people.

According to him, the senator recently donated trailer loads of fertiliser to the entire zone and also distributed plant seedlings to schools and worship centres to prevent flooding and beautify the environment.

Rev. Ishaya Gobum, who is the Coordinator, Kanke Liaison Office for Diket Plang, who represented the senator, said that it’s always been in his nature to extend handshakes to the less privileged.

“I have been with Diket Plang, and what you’re seeing is the tip of the iceberg. Philanthropy is in his blood and his philosophy.”

Two students of the school, Head Boy, Koprit Maxwell, and the Head Girl, Chinkinaan Danladi, promised to ensure that students are well-behaved and the school facilities are well protected.
