Command Day, Liberty Academy, Brightville, UMC emerge winners at Ibadan inter secondary relay competition

Command Day secondary school, Liberty secondary commercial academy, BrightVille college and United Missionary College, all in Ibadan, emerged winners at the fourth LageluFm inter secondary school relay competition, held at the University of Ibadan.

Command Day secondary school emerged winner in the 4X100 metres relay race for girls and boys as well as in the mixed 4X200 metres relay.

Liberty secondary commercial academy emerged winner in the mixed 4X100 metres relay race while BrightVille college and United Missionary college emerged winners in 4X200 metres for boys and girls respectively.

About 45 secondary schools keenly competed in the various relay race categories with winners receiving laurels, consolation gifts and others.

In their separate remarks, the wife of the founder, Chief Mrs Onikepo Akande and the station’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Atinuke Adetunji stressed that the LageluFm inter secondary school relay is aimed at discovering talents, encouraging positive interaction amongst youths and healthy lifestyle.

Also, the station’s General Manager (Operations), Mr Tunde Olawuwo emphasized that the annual competition has helped revive interschool sporting competition thereby contributing to sports development in the state.

Speaking at the event, Oyo Sports Sports Commissioner, Mr Seun Fakorede pledged to always support LageluFm and organisations with such sporting initiatives.

He affirmed commitment of the Governor Seyi Makinde administration to sport development in the state, through massive investment in sports.

He said the huge investment of the current administration in sports was already yielding returns in the state.
