How colleagues failed to raise N5million to bring Moji Olaiya’s corpse to Nigeria

Her remains may be conveyed home, buried in Nigeria this week As Funke Adesiyan blasts colleagues over failure to raise money.

But for the quick intervention of a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, the remains of popular Yoruba actress, Moji Olaiya, would have been buried in Canada, where she died following complications arising from childbirth.

R reliably gathered that shortly after the death of the actress, an emergency meeting was held between some of her colleagues in the industry to raise N5 million needed to transport her corpse and her new baby back to Nigeria with each actress asked to contribute N100,000.

The burial committee was said to have met the former governor after efforts to raise the money proved abortive and it was becoming certain that Olaiya could be interred in Canada.

Words were said to have reached Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) and was said to have been moved by the concerns of Nigerians, who were worried by the inability of Olaiya’s family to raise enough cash to bring her corps to Nigeria.

A concerned actress, Funke Adesiyan, who claimed she was aware that Olaiya’s colleagues were billed N100,000 each to raise the much needed N5 million to fly the body to Nigeria but most of them failed to raise the fund, adding that it was a shame that many artistes came on social media platforms to shed tears but could not extend a helping hand when it mattered most.

Speaking further, Adesiyan, disclosed that artistes were billed N100,000 each to bring down Moji’s body but many of them did not contribute a penny.  “All they know how to do is flaunt wealth that they don’t have on the social media. The house you live in is being paid for-the car you drive na dash. “The supposed business you own, you are not making a dime from.”

The outspoken actress-cum politician admonished her colleagues to stop living fake lives and face reality. “My brother and sister, quit living large and forming rich on other people’s largesse. Stop forming Oga Madam over nothing. You only have the right to flaunt your sweat. We don’t need to turn beggars to help one another. We all could be one another’s helper. If you are Moji’s friend and you didn’t contribute a dime towards helping to move her down, you should take her picture down,” she said.
