CodeGarageAfrica, 386Konsult, and Zeeh Africa, in collaboration with the Oyo State Government, have certified over 1,000 senior secondary school students from 110 schools across 11 local government areas of the state in digital skills.
The collaborative initiative made it possible for an intensive 5-day coding/non-code tech training programme in Ibadan.
part of the 1000 Lines of Code initiative, aimed to equip students with essential coding and non-code tech skills, fostering the next generation of tech innovators.
According to a statement by Dolapo Ayeni, Founder & Chief Brand Officer of CodeGarageAfrica, the initiative will have a huge impact on tech development in the country.
“We are still basking in the euphoria of the impact we created in Ibadan, Oyo State. Our goal was to empower these young minds with the skills they need to succeed in a digital world, and the enthusiasm and dedication they have shown is truly inspiring.”
The statement explained that the programme featured a comprehensive curriculum in UIUX designs, front-end development, and back-end development, including hands-on coding sessions, interactive workshops, and real-world project applications. Students were guided by industry experts and experienced trainers through topics such as web development, mobile app creation, and the fundamentals of software engineering.
“The grand finale of the event was marked by a certification ceremony, where all 1,000 participants received certificates in recognition of their hard work and newly acquired skills. The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including representatives from the Oyo State Government and partnering organisations, who commended the students for their remarkable achievements.
“We are proud to support this initiative, which aligns with our vision of fostering educational development and innovation,” said Victor Funmipe, a renowned cybersecurity expert and key organiser of the event”.
The statement further revealed that David Adeleke, CEO and co-founder of Zeeh Africa, said that he is pleased to be a part of the 1000 Lines of Code initiative put together by CodeGarageAfrica.
“ I am very proud of the students; they built a criminal database useful for the Oyo State government in the space of 5 days… we hope they continue learning even now that the event is over,” he said.
The 1000 Lines of Code initiative is part of a broader mission to promote STEM education and create opportunities for young Nigerians in the tech industry. By providing these students with the tools and resources to succeed, CodeGarageAfrica aims to inspire a new generation of tech leaders and innovators.
