A cleric, Reverend (Mrs) Stella Ajetomobi, has charged singles, both male and female, to discover themselves before entering into marriage.
She gave the charge at a programme tagged: Before You Say I Do, at the Chapel of Resurrection, University of Ibadan.
She advised singles to develop themselves emotionally, spiritually, socially and physically before getting married.
She said singles intending to get married should be respectful, talented, industrious, be of sound mind, and culture-oriented.
She said it was important for them to do a background check on the intended partner’s family and carry along their spiritual leaders before getting married.
Pastor Taiwo Otegbeye, a special guest at the event, in his address, advised that before accepting any proposal, one should consider compatibility of both partners, as love was not “enough for a successful marriage but love in action.”
The convener, Mrs Tosin Togun, admonished the participants to put God first before choosing life partners and “this can be achieved through working relationship with God.”
Participants at the event, Fabusola Nifemi, Ajayi Victoria and Joel Olayinka, in separate reactions, expressed appreciation to the organisers for the programme, noting that the lessons learnt would help them have fulfilled homes in future.
