CILT pledges to actualise charter domestication in Nigeria

The National President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Alhaji Ibrahim Jibril, has vowed to ensure the actualisation of the charter domestication of the body in Nigeria

Speaking during the 20th investiture ceremonies of the National council and induction of newly elected members of the CILT in Lagos recently, Ibrahim Jibril restated his commitment towards the final push to conclusion of the CILT charter bill, which is currently on the floors of the National Assembly.

Also, he restated his commitment to capacity building of members, to acquire modern skills in the discharge of their responsibilities in various sectors of the transport logistics supply chain.

The National President intends also to let all members have a voice in the governance of CILT, as he intends to continuously encourage the female professionals to improve on their services delivery, especially through the women in logistics and transport (WILAT) wing.

To take the pride of place in the economic running of Nigeria, Jibril also promised to bring to the consciousness of all officials of governments at the local, State and Federal levels, in no distant time, the very essence of logistics and transport to national economic growth.

The chairman of the occasion, Mr Felix Ovbude and one time GM of Eastern Ports under the Nigeria Ports Authority, lamented that 58 years down the line, CILT is yet to be chartered in Nigeria. He challenged the newly elected National President to consolidate on his predecessor’s gains, to bring to fruition, the much desired CILT Nigeria bill/Act which will definitely open the floodgates to expansive opportunities in the business of logistics and transport delivery services/consultancy in Nigeria.

The guest lecturer at the event and MD/CEO, Multimix Academy, Dr Obiora Madu took participants through the enchanting and professionally exciting world of logistics, warning that if Nigeria does not get its act together and key into the fast growing economic sector, Nigeria would not be able to compete globally, while others continue to leverage on its advantages.
