President, CCN, Reverend (Dr) Benebo Fubara Manuel, while addressing newsmen at the Council’s head office in Lagos, said the rate of violence against children was gradually getting out of control, hence the need for the partnership between the CCN and UNICEF.

“The rally is to sensitise Nigerians on the need to put an end to violence against children. Many children have been abused, killed or render disabled due to violent attacks. We are using the rally to call the attention of government to this evil trend,” he stated.

Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF, Mr Dennis Onoise, said the high rate of violence against children in Nigeria necessitated the need for UNICEF to partner the CCN to help create awareness.

The rally is expected to hold in nine states in Nigeria, including Jos, Lagos, and Gombe.
