Christmas: Soludo’s wife visits orphanages, welfare homes in Anambra

Published by

Ahead of the Christmas celebration, Anambra’s first lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo has begun charity visits to all the orphanages and welfare homes in Anambra State.

The visits, according to the governor’s wife, are inspired by the need to give the children and other occupants of the homes a sense of celebration, interact with them in areas of need and remind them that they are always loved.

Homes visited by the governor’s wife on the first day of the tour included Saint Martin’s Community Children/Welfare Home, Etiti, Igboukwu, Blessed-Nise Community Children’s Home, Nise, Model Community Children’s Home, Ifite-Awka, God’s Care School for Special Needs, Umuayom, Awka and Faith Community Children’s Home, Awka.

Speaking at each of the homes where she shared a great time with the residents, Mrs Soludo explained that her mindset of Christmas is to reach out to those who are often forgotten by society in times of such celebrations and put a smile on their faces.

She noted that such visits meant so much to her, arguing that Christmas will lose its essence if the language of love and kindness is abandoned.

She maintained her call for people to extend a hand of compassion to those around them who do not have it, with the understanding that humanity will be better when everyone feels loved and protected.

The Anambra first lady further disclosed that she planned to visit every children’s home in Anambra State before Christmas, covering private, public and mission-owned ones.

Speaking in one of the homes, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Okpaleke, thanked the governor’s wife for setting the right example as not just the mother of the state, but a woman who lives by the virtues of kindness.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the Wife of the state deputy governor, Mrs Oluchi Ibezim, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South, Mrs Amaka Obi, wife of the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mrs Chioma Ezeokenwa, among others, joined the visits.
