Rev. Dr Yakubu Pam
As the first batch of Christian Pilgrims who left Jos airport last month 25th July to the Kingdom of Jordan on their first-ever pilgrimage returned to the country on Monday afternoon, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) Rev Dr Yakubu Pam described the journey as “worthy and successful.”
A statement issued by his media aide, Pam Ayuba, quoted the NCPC boss as saying the “experience was worthwhile” stressing that, the pilgrims were now better “informed about their responsibilities as citizens.”
He said the pilgrims were ” well behaved while in the Holy land” praising the relentless efforts of the Nigerian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Jordan, His Excellency, Ambassador Faruk Yabo for standing by them.
“I believe the pilgrims will put to use what they saw in Jordan for the betterment of the country. we prayed for the peace of the country and for our leaders in all spheres of governance”! He enthused!
According to Rev Pam, “we were well treated by the Jordanian government and I must say, Jordan is a fantastic country full of memories from biblical history to morden agricultural mechanizations to tourism.
He said he was happy that the first batch did not witness any cases of ” abscondment” due to the “tight security that was put in place from the first day to the end”.
According to the NCPC boss, the commission was working round the clock to ensure that all the 2500 hundred pilgrims to Jordan were airlifted to perform the pilgrimage as scheduled.
” I’m happy the operations are moving smoothly and I hope we shall meet our target as scheduled”! Pam emphasized.
Recall the flag off of the first-ever pilgrimage to Jordan was done in Jos, Plateau State where the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Barr. Simon Bako Lalong performed the groundbreaking ceremony at the Jos Airport last month, July 25, 2021.
So far, the third batch left Jos Monday, 2nd August, en route Abuja this evening while the fourth batch will depart Lagos on Thursday, 5, August 2021, to join other contingents in Jordan.
