Christian group warns Sowore against religious incitement

The Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) has issued a warning to Omoyele Sowore regarding his recent remarks about Christian leaders in Nigeria.

Describing his comments as offensive and unfounded, the forum declared that further disparagement of the Christian faith or its leaders will not be tolerated.

In a statement signed by its Convener, Adama Paul James, the CCYF emphasized that labeling respected Fathers of Faith as failures, uneducated, or jobless is inaccurate and detracts from their significant contributions as both spiritual and intellectual figures.

The group expressed concern that Sowore’s comments could contribute to religious tensions and urged the government to take appropriate measures to maintain public peace.

“We, the Concerned Christian Youth Forum, have learned of recent comments made by Omoyele Sowore concerning Christian leaders. We find these remarks unacceptable.

To describe our Fathers of Faith and Pastors as failures, uneducated, or jobless misrepresents their considerable achievements and contributions. We believe that such language diminishes the important work these leaders perform.

We note the significant accomplishments of many Christian leaders, including Bishop Francis Wale Oke, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Pastor D.K. Olukoya, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Apostle Johnson Suleman, Pastor Poju Oyemade, Apostle Joshua Selman, Pastor Jerry Eze, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, Pastor Godman Akinlabi, Pastor Emmanuel Iren, Pastor Korede Komaiya, and others, who have earned respect through notable academic and professional achievements as well as dedicated service to their communities.

These leaders have garnered admiration from millions of believers worldwide. We urge Sowore to reconsider his approach and refrain from further remarks that could be perceived as disrespectful.

This statement serves as a notice that any additional comments perceived as attacks on Christianity or its leaders may prompt further response. We advise Sowore to consider the broader impact of his words on societal harmony.
