Cholera outbreak: Malami’s NGO donates drugs, equipment to communities in Kebbi

A non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Kebbi State, Khadimiya for Justice and Development Initiative (KJDI) has presented essential drugs and equipment worth millions of naira to Babuche, Dankali, Zagi and Gadon-koni communities in Augie and Suru LGAs of Kebbi State ravaged by cholera epidemics.

Spokesman of the NGO, Ibrahim Abubakar Jombale disclosed this to the Tribune Online in a press statement he signed.

Presenting the drugs in Augie town, the National Administrative Secretary of the NGO, Faruku Abubakar Maisudan said the gesture was in line with Khadimiya’s objective of supporting government efforts through interventions in healthcare services whenever the need arises, hence the donation of drugs and equipment to tackle the outbreak in these villages.

Maisudan explained further that, the founder of Khadimiya for Justice and Development Initiative who is also the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) directed the NGO to make the presentation as his contribution to fight the epidemic.

The Director of Health in Augie LGA, Nasiru Mohammed Bayawa thanked Khadimiya for being the first NGO domiciled in the State to provide them with necessary drugs which will go a long way to curb the spread of the disease.

In Suru LGA, the Director of Health, represented by Alhaji Faruku Udulu, the Lamido of Dakingari, and Marafan Dakingari (Garbas), Alhaji Muhammadu Mashayabi and other Health workers assured the NGO of using the donation received judiciously.

The essential drugs presented to the affected communities include varieties of consumables, equipment and cash donations to each community.
