Child’s creativity skills necessary for technological advancement — SOL Proprietor

Published by

THE proprietor, Seed of Life College, Ibadan,  Mrs Kikelomo Runsewe, has said that developing a  child’s innate creativity and innovation skills in their tender age at least from basic education level, is inevitable in the ongoing Nigeria technological development and the “breakthrough process agenda.”

Mrs Runsewe made the remark on Friday, at the 17th valedictory service and Prize Giving ceremony of the college, held at the school’s premises.

According to her, it is high time creativity and innovation education were integrated into the secondary curriculum for the purpose of developing the God-giving talents in a child, adding that every subject, if it is well taught by experienced teachers, has its peculiar potential value from which the child can develop and invent things.

She said every subject should be taught as a guide for invention.

“As a matter of fact, secondary school education at Seed of Life College is entrepreneurship- driven, as we give creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship education high premium, committing resources to ensure that each child identifies his or her talents and develop them.  We encourage our students to be self- sufficient entrepreneurship wise and also sound academically. There is no child that will graduate from our college without one skill or the other.

“ So far, we have produced 532 alumni and many of them graduated as lawyers,  Medical doctors, Engineers, while some of them are also found in other disciplines relevant to nation-building.  The good news about our alumni’s academic performances in their various universities and their performances in their workplace often gladding my heart. This year’s WAEC results of our students also raised my hope that our efforts and commitment to quality education is fruitful.

“ To promote academic excellence among our students we offer a full scholarship to the overall best student in each in their promotional examination to next class for the forthcoming academic session,” she said.
