Chevron’s Jeff Ewing bags 2018 PETAN leadership award at OTC

CHAIRMAN and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa Business Unit, Jeff Ewing, has bagged the 2018 PETAN Leadership Award at the ongoing Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston Texas, USA.

The Chevron boss reportedly received the award on Tuesday at the Oil and Gas Industry Dinner and Award event, organized by the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) as part of activities at this year’s OTC holding from April 30 to May 3, 2018.

PETAN, in a press statement signed by General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA), Esimaje Brikinn, is an association of oil and gas industry services provider in Nigeria.

TribuneOnline reports that the PETAN’s award was in recognition of Ewing’s leadership and professional excellence in helping to drive the development of Local Content in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry.

Mr Ewing, while speaking on the award, thanked PETAN for the recognition.

He added that “the award reflects the industry’s recognition of the outstanding Chevron Way values, which represent who we are and drive the way we do business.”

The PETAN award recipient further affirmed that Chevron companies in Nigeria support Nigerian Content Development, not out of a need for compliance to an act, but as “part of our business values.”

The award is the high point of PETAN’s activities at OTC, which was reportedly attended by many Nigerian-based companies including IOCs.

The General Managing Director (GMD) of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru, at the event, gave the opening remarks, where he highlighted the Nigerian government’s efforts at reforming the oil and gas industry and making it globally competitive through policy and legislative reforms.

Mr Ewing also highlighted Chevron Nigeria Ltd (CNL)’s over 90 percent reduction in gas flare over the last 10 years as an outstanding effort at gas commercialization and flares out, and an example of what the industry is doing to monetize flared gas in Nigeria.
