Chevron Nigeria invested $3.6bn on Nigeria Content in 2015 —Report

Chevron Nigeria Limited CNL) has reiterated its commitment to local content development in Nigeria by investing $3.6 billion in 2015 according to a report.

Chevron’s commitment to local capacity building is yielding positive results, boosting local economies, creating job opportunities, and multiplier effects in the Nigerian economy.

Chevron said in the report that it consistently reserves significant portions of job scopes to benefit indigenous companies and community contractors from areas close to its operations.

In 2015, Chevron spend on Nigerian Content was approximately $3.6 billion (including company labour costs).

Chevron supports upgrade of existing local plants and facilities to drive in-country fabrication. 50 Nigerians were trained by PEM Offshore Facility, an in-country DP Marine Training School which Chevron is supporting with a $1 million scholarship to Nigerian Seamen over a period of five years.

Fifty young Nigerians graduated from the Vocational Training Program (VTP) in October 2015 and are currently at Chevron field locations for the second phase of their training On-the-Job Learning (OJL).

The Sonam Non Association Gas Wellhead Platform (NWP) Topsides were fabricated at Nigerdock and construction training for 160 Nigerians on welding, fabrication & craft was completed in December 2015.

Twelve trainees completed a one-year Onshore Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) training under the Funiwa Gas Project Chevron strongly believes in the development of local capacity and is committed to the successful implementation of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s policy on Nigerian Content Development (NCD).

Chevron demonstrates its commitment to development of local capacity by empowering Nigerian service providers and suppliers through human and business capacity development, local patronage, work scope reservation and fostering of business partnerships.
