Oyo State Commissioner of Health, Dr Azeez Adeduntan made the disclosure when the state’s Task Force on Private Health Facilities visited 16 private health facilities in Akinyele and Ibadan North Local government area in the state.
The task force had sealed eight health facilities and ascertained other formerly closed were still non operational. These facilities included B. Mini Clinic Maternity Centre, Oke Adu; Ola Oluwa Medical Centre, Irefin, Oje; Moyosore Clinic and Maternity, Moniya and Ayodele Physiotherapy Clinic, Yemetu.
The facilities were closed for offences ranging from non registration of the premises, training of auxiliary nurses, unhygienic hospital environment and failure to have qualified medical staff on ground.

The Commissioner, speaking through the ministry’s Director, Secondary Health Care and Training, Dr Adebisi Ayoola, stated the public could use this bill board to identify where they can be assured of their safety.
Dr Adeduntan, who said that the ministry had been flooded with reports of medical negligence and deaths by private health facilities, declared that this had become necessary to improve health care services.
According to him, “we receive many reports of medical negligence on the part of private health care practitioners and they are causing untimely deaths of our people. The state government’s aim is to improve health facilities in the state.
“The task force is not set out to witchhurt anybody but to ensure that all private hospitals and clinics comply with the rules and regulations setting up their practice.”
