Centre plans national summit on women’s inclusion in Nigeria

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) is set to host a one-day High-Level National Summit on Women’s Inclusion in Nigeria on August 22.

The summit aims to emphasize the importance of women’s inclusion in governance and will bring together stakeholders from various sectors, including the National Assembly, media, academia, development partners, traditional and religious leaders, and gender justice advocates.

According to Victoria Udoh, MEL Director at Centre LSD, the summit seeks to harmonize efforts and actions by stakeholders and organizations on women’s inclusion in governance, foster synergy, and map out a joint strategy and actions for collective impact.

Prof. Oluwafunmilayo Para-Mallam, Professor of Gender and Development Studies and Director of Research at the National Institute for Policy & Strategic Studies (NIPSS), will deliver the keynote address.

Dignitaries expected to attend include Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federation; the Senate President; the Speaker of the House of Representatives; the Deputy Senate President; the Deputy Speaker; the Chair of the NGO Committee in the Senate and House of Representatives; all female Senators and House of Representatives members; the Minister of Women Affairs; the Minister of Youth; all female Nigerian ministers, and several other dignitaries.
