Centenary birthday: Osinbajo congratulates Delta traditional ruler

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has congratulated Ovie Ogbon, the Owhorode of Olomu Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta on his centenary birthday.

The vice president was represented by Sen. Babafemi Ojodu at the ceremony on Friday at Olomu.

Osinbajo also thanked the monarch for his 29 years of reign as Olomu king.

“Congratulations to your majesty on this 100 years and 29 years of your ascension into the throne of your father.

“We thank you immensely for your selfless service to your people and our great nation.

“May God grant you more years  and strength,” he said.

It will be recalled that the monarch was installed on March 12, 1988 as the 12th Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom.

He is also the Chairman of the Urhobo Traditional Rulers Council

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, in his part, commended the monarch for remembering to give thanks to God for the age.

Okowa described the monarch as a “role model,” urging him to work consistently and continue in his good work to wear the “biggest crown” which is in heaven.

The governor said he would continue to work with royal fathers and the people of Delta to ensure even development in the state.

“May we continue to realise that by partnering and working together United, we will develop our state.

“By the grace of God even though there is recession we will be able to work through it and succeed as a state.

“My promise is that I will continue to work with all Deltans, our royal fathers to ensure even development of all Delta including the riverine areas,” he said.

Okowa also urged the youth to protect the oil facilities in the state in order to have enough resources to execute projects in the state.

In attendance were royal fathers in Delta including the Oroje of Okpe Kingdom, Maj. Gen. Felix Mujakperuo,  government functionaries, clerics among others.
