VoguePay wins African Online Payment Platform award

VoguePay.com, leading emerging markets e-payments service provider, has won the African Online Payment Platform of the year award at the sixth edition of the African Achievers Award 2016 held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja last week.

The awards organised by the Institute of Leadership and Management and Achievers Media, have consistently rewarded and honoured great African Achievers across the continent. It is recognised as one of the biggest gathering of influential and global African achievers and is rated by Forbes Magazine as one of the most prestigious awards on the African continent.

Principal partner of African Achievers Award, Mr Tonye Rex Idaminabo, remarked that VoguePay won special recognition award as the African Online Payment Platform of the year as a result of its contribution to online payment in Nigeria and Africa in general. VoguePay is a secure payment gateway launched in 2012 with the vision to make online, cross-currency payments and transactions safer, cheaper and more accessible for businesses, traders and consumers in Africa and internationally. It has offices in Lagos, Nigeria and United Kingdom with expansion plans to other African countries.

While acknowledging the award, Mr Ibrahim Mohammed, Head of Business Development, Africa, VoguePay, reiterated his company’s commitment to excellence as the award came on the heels of VoguePay’s recent honour as the best emerging online payment in Africa at the African Information Technology and Telecom Awards (AITTA) 2016 in Accra, Ghana.

He noted that VoguePay is the biggest payment gateway by merchant size in Nigeria and also serves customers in four continents including North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Along with VoguePay, some of the visionaries African leaders honoured for their immense contributions and legacies include the Presidents of Malawi and Zambia; Peter Mutharika and Edgar Lungu respectively.

According to Mr Ogunlade Oluwole, Head, Digital Media at VoguePay, other award winners include, John Momoh, chairman, Channels TV; Johnson Arthur Sakaja,  national chairman of the ruling party in Kenya;  Miss Angelle Kwemo, Chief Executive Officer, Rimsom Strategies; Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Hon Thapelo Olopeng, Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture, Botswana; and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Others are Mosima Gabriel “Tokyo” Sexwale; one of top 10 successful businessmen in South Africa and other revered accomplished Africans achievers who were honoured for their works and contributions towards the growth and advancement of the African Continent.

The African Achievers awards were previously hosted in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Other notable African leaders who have received the award are Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the late former President of Ghana, John Evans Atta-Mills, John Fashanu, Platinumz Diamond, Dr Charles Dim Nwaobi, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, etc.
