The Kogi state Butchers Development Association on Monday announced the suspension of some members over the alleged Castle Rustling and indulging in anti- union activities.
Addressing journalists in Lokoja on Monday, Hon. Idi Ibrahim, Chairman of the Association stated that, after a meeting the organisation adopted a resolution suspending one Dodun Akuya and others who allegedly rustled three cows belonging to Fulanis and all those associated with him.
He assured residents of the association’s readiness to deal decisively with any erring member stressing that on no account would the Union allow beef of cattle rustled be sold in the market.
“Immediately we got the information we set up a committee which investigated whether any of our members are involved in the alleged cattle rustling and sell of beef of rustled cows to our customers and to also ascertain whether any of our member is involved directly or otherwise in aiding the sell of such beef to innocent customers.
“At the end of the committee investigation, it was revealed that some members were involved and immediately we suspended them indefinitely” Ibrahim said.
He assured residents of the union’s determination to ensure safety, especially with regard to healthy beef in the market.
