Casuals for the new year

The new year should bring new fashion orientation. Aside business outings, it’s high time we voted casuals in our routine.

It would be boring if everyone dressed the same for every function. Less formal occasions should not always attract the normal formal dressing. That said, here are some  casual tips to get you started.

Denim Jeans

While their use has never dwindled, there has been a rise in the popularity of denim jeans in recent years, with many brands making use of high quality raw denim that’s put together in the way they would have been made 50 years ago. A pair will last for decades and will only get better with age. For maximum fitting, cuff the edges to reveal a little of your ankles.

T-Shirt

Today the T-shirt can be worn with anything. So it’s basically official: there’s nothing the T-shirt can’t do. Naturally, there are many variations, look out for a good quality and affordable cotton with a flattering cut.

Most especially, make sure the shirt is not too tight, revealing too much biceps. But it should be fitting.

Trainers

Trainers are being worn differently today. They are taken out of their sportswear niche to complement  traditionally formal attires.  Due to its versatility, it is arguably the most coveted shoe style of today.

White trainers are still the most ‘classic’, and can be worn with almost all styles – leathers are slightly smarter though. You can also opt for off-white – they don’t look so out of the box – or a pair with a contrasting gum sole. They’ll still be nice to wear, but are slightly more interesting than plain white.

 

A Backpack

In relatively little time, the backpack has emerged the new luggage norm. Out of nowhere it’ has somehow shed its college  status and now any brand worth its salt is producing it. This is at least partly due to its functional qualities.

It is very much in line with the more casual way that many men are dressing.

For those that work in cities, isn’t it nice having both hands free as you board public transport? But which style to go for? A full leather bag is naturally the best with its large space and stylish look.
