Car dealer in court for allegedly cheating businessman of N600,000

The police on Thursday, arraigned a 29-year old car dealer, Alexander Nwora, in a Lugbe Senior Magistrates’ Court Abuja, for allegedly cheating a businessman of N600,000.

Nwora, who lives in Lugbe, Abuja,  is charged with three counts of joint act, criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, O.A. Olaofe, told the court that the matter was reported by the complainant, Mr Onah Pius, at the Lugbe Police Station on Aug. 28.

Olaofe alleged that the complainant gave Nwora a Toyota Corolla with registration number ABJ 761 AE, to sell for N600,000.

He told the court that the defendant allegedly sold the car and converted the money to his personal use.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 97, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

After the charges were read to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

Senior Magistrate  Aminu Eri admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two reliable sureties, in like sum.

He ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case until Sept. 18 for further hearing.
