Candel flags off Cleanfarm Project campaign

One of the nation’s agrochemical companies, Candel Limited, has announced the launch of  Candel Cleanfarm Campaign, aimed at enhancing the welfare of the nation’s farmers and keeping the environment clean and safe.

Describing the launch as the first of its kind in the country, the company’s chief executive, Mr Emmanuel Kattie, believes the project will go a long way in ridding farms of herbicide bottles and remnants of agro-chemicals, constituting grave health danger to the  environment.

The Cleanfarm Project, he explained, encourages farmers to return empty bottles of used Candel products and get financial rewards. The company’s chief executive also announced the introduction of Candel Be a Millionaire Promo as a way of  creating excitement and fun for farmers and trade partners across the country.

According to him, the consumer promotion,  derived from  Candel Cleanfarm Project, is designed to enhance farmers’ productivity, efficiency and output.

“We are the first company to launch this in Nigeria. It is a project designed to rid farms of herbicide bottles and remnants of agrochemicals, that pose significant health hazards to the ecosystem.

“The Candel Cleanfarm Project encourages farmers to return empty bottles of used Candel products such as DElsate, Tackle, Phyto-General, OrizoPlus and ParaQ, and get financially rewarded at the same time,” he said.

The company’s  chairman, Mr Charles Anudu, noted that  since agrochemicals are poisonous, most of what the company produces kills.

‘But  because the bottles for these chemicals look very attractive, some farmers in the villages further put to use the empty bottles to drink water or palm wine. We have, therefore, decided to buy back the bottles from the farmers,’ he stated.

The premier draw of the promo, held over the weekend, in Lagos, produced the  first set of ten winners. A total number of 60 farmers across the country will be rewarded with 12 tricycles and 48 electrical generators, at the monthly draws, while the sum of one million naira will be won as star prize at the grand finale of the draw, scheduled for November, this year.
