CAN, PFN, NEMA, others honour Lawon’s late wife

Representatives of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye; president, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke; PFN chairman, Oyo State, Reverend Samuel Ajetunmobi; National President of the Nigerian Evangelical Mission Association (NEMA), Reverend David Kanda; Evangelist Bola Are, other top clerics and dignitaries were part of those who joined the family of Reverend Isaiah Lawon of the Fullstature Missions International last Friday, to celebrate the life and times of the late Reverend Mrs. Comfort Lawon.

The final burial service, which took place at the Fullstature Missions Conference Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State, also witnessed tributes from all and sundry as they also paid their last respect to the deceased.

According to one of the sons of the late cleric, Pastor Oluyinka Jemilawon, Mama Lawon had taken ill briefly and eventually rested in the Lord on August 28. He also said that she would be greatly missed, especially in the church and the family.

The widower and the General Overseer of the Fullstature Mission International, Reverend Isaiah Lawon, in his tribute, described his late wife as a sacrificial woman, who never seeks acknowledgement for the good that she did, adding that, “She was tolerant, accommodating, simple and preternaturally peaceful. She was a gift to this world and God helped her to stir the ship of fellowship in Christ.

In his sermon, Apostle Pre Ovia, admonished Christians to make themselves ready for the second coming of Jesus, while he also charging fellow clerics to always hear clearly from God before preaching to the people. He further urged Christians to have a forgiving spirit so that they can be forgiven and make heaven.

In her tribute, Evangelist Bola Are advised women to emulate the lifestyle of Reverend Mrs Lawon, adding that, “Women must support their husbands at any given time. The lessons and preaching teach us to stand on the rock of ages and that Christ can come at any time. This woman is an example of the biblical virtuous woman,” she said.

Speaking to Tribune Church News, Oyo State CAN chairman, Reverend Ajetunmobi, cautioned spiritual and political leaders, saying, “Christian leaders should continue working for God, they should live by example and continue to serve God and humanity. Our political leaders should have the fear of God in all they do.”

Reverend Ajetunmobi, also advised church leaders to emulate the husband of the late cleric, adding “We have seen the power of serving a body beyond a particular denomination. Reverend Lawon has been a body man, committed to the body of Christ irrespective of denomination, and he has influenced many people and challenged them.”
