CAN lauds Gov Bago on N80,000 minimum wage approval

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Niger state chapter, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna has lauded Governor Umaru Bago on approval of N80,000 as minimum wage for civil servants in NIger State.

Yohanna who doubles as the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese also tasked workers in the state to take advantage of the Governor’s civil servants farming programme to become more productive.

It would be recalled that Governor Bago after an extensive meeting with organised labour in the state, on Friday, announced the approval of N80,000 as minimum wage in the state for both state and local government workforce with effect from November 2024,

Yohanna in a statement by his media aide, thanked the Governor for ensuring Niger state is among the top-ranking states in the implementation of the national minimum wage in the country.

According to him “On behalf of the entire Christendom/ the body of Christ in the state, I thank our dear state Governor for choosing N80,000 out of the N70,000, N75,000 and N80,000 options presented by the state’s organised labour union.”

He further called on the organised labour led by the state chairman, Comrade Idris Abdulkareem Lafene to impress it on the workforce to double their efforts in ensuring the state’s internally generated revenue improves.
