Call to service: Group urges Adelabu to contest Oyo gubernatorial

A coalition of people from Saki, Iseyin, Kajola and the entire Oke-Ogun people under the auspices of Oke-Ogun People’s alliance has called on Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the grandson of the late Adegoke Adelabu (Penkelemesi) to contest in the next Oyo state 2019 gubernatorial election.

The group made this call during a clarion call to service programme held at Saki town hall, Saki on Saturday.

In his remarks, the chairman of the day; Alhaji Abdul-rasheed sanni, acknowledged the philanthropic contributions of Adelabu via the Bayo Adelabu Foundation (BAF), to oke-ogun people and to the Oyo state people at large.

“The various activities this man has carried out in our society, ranging from drilling of boreholes to supply our water needs, paying of bursary to our children in higher institutions, giving succor to the widows and less privileged cannot be over-emphasized.” He said

He further said that Oyo state needs no one than Adebayo Adelabu who is already contributing to humanity even while he is yet to be in power.

“We are calling on the Deputy Governor (operations) of the Central Bank; Adebayo Adelabu to come and serve us in Oyo state, as he is the only one that can continue the good work of Senator Abiola Ajimobi in the state.” He said.

During attestations and appraisals, the members of some groups and artisans that have benefitted from the Bayo Adelabu Foundation’s charity outreach appreciated him for his tremendous effort and pledged their support for his governorship ambition.

The President of the Federation of Oyo state students in Oke-ogun polytechnic, Ogunsola Michael while giving his attestations said Adebayo Adelabu has been contributing immensely to the student quota by giving scholarship and bursary to students across the state.

“BAF foundation recently gave scholarship to 50 best students from Oyo state in our school and he as well paid bursary to not less than 500 students” he said.

Also present at the event were; High Chief Abdul-rosheed Adegoke, The Bagii of Sakiland, Comrade Abdul-Rahmon Adesope, Zonal Chairman Oke-ogun and some other notable people in oke-ogun
