The President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Worldwide, Pastor Abraham Akinosun, has cautioned Nigerians against abusing the democracy being enjoyed in Nigeria.
Akinosun gave the caution while speaking with newsmen after the ordination of over 2,000 new pastors at the headquarters of the church at Ikeji-Arakeji in Osun, on Thursday.
“There is a limit to freedom in any democracy. We should not abuse the democracy we are enjoying in Nigeria now.
“No responsible government will open its eyes and allow any individual or group of people to disrupt a duly-constituted government,” he said.
The cleric added that Nigerians should learn how to be obedient and respect the rule of law, adding that the government should also respect the rule of law and give the citizenry the necessary freedom to express themselves.
According to him, it is through obedience to the laws of the land that the nation can move forward.

Akinosun called on the leadership of the country to make policies that would be beneficial to the citizenry.
On the continuous detention of the convener of the ‘RevolutionNow’ Movement, Mr Omoyele Sowore, the CAC President called for his release from the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS).
“Sowore should be released since a court of competent jurisdiction has granted him bail,’’ he said.
The cleric advised the Federal Government and the National Assembly to stop the passage of the social media regulations bill into law, saying that the existing laws guiding public utterances should be strengthened.
“The Federal Government and the National Assembly should make use of the existing laws of defamation to deal with those involved in hate speech. It should also be stated that the death sentence is too grievous a penalty for such an offence,” he said.
The CAC president said that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration was not against freedom of speech, as no individual had been arrested for hate speech or bad utterances so far, asking Nigerians to pray for the administration.
