Bwari chairman warns residents against illegal refuse disposal

The Chairman of Bwari Area Council of the FCT, Mr Musa Dikko, has warned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse by the roadside.

Dikko gave the warning on Sunday in Bwari in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that improper disposal of refuse was one of the major environmental challenges faced in the area.

“We are appealing to residents of Bwari area council to do their best in the way and manner they dump refuse.

“It is not healthy to dump refuse indiscriminately; we have a responsibility to package this refuse in a better way so that when environmental sanitation officers are on the field to dispose of this refuse, they will not find it difficult to do so.

“And in public places particularly roads, residents need not be told that these are not good places to dump refuse.

“Very soon we will identify other areas that we can be dumping refuse; we are finding solution to the problem.

“We have not been able to manage wastes properly, but it is not an excuse for residents to dump refuse anyhow,” he said.
