Business of Purpose, SMEDAN train 150 budding entrepreneurs

The business of Purpose Summit, in partnership with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has trained 150 budding entrepreneurs on the requisite skills to effectively operate in a business environment.

The Convener, Business of Purpose Summit, Oluwatobi Odukoya, who spoke at the summit tagged “Building Purpose in Life and Enterprise” held in Lagos, said that entrepreneurship is the way to build young people in the country and build the nation.

She added that understanding business purpose and leveraging on the knowledge for self-development is necessary for a successful business venture.

“Entrepreneurship in Nigeria has such a huge capacity. Out of the 200 population, 75 per cent are young people. The thing about being young is not in the population of the age.

“Being young means a lot of people are starting out trying to build their businesses and so, entrepreneurship is the way forward. It is the way to build capacity and build a nation.

“You need to understand yourself, use your understanding of your talent, gift to build your life, business, anything you are doing. Your purpose should actually be your business” Tobi said.

Speaking also, The representative of SMEDAN, Yinka Fisher admonished entrepreneurs that business ideas should be driven by the needs of the people, saying challenges should be seen as opportunities.

“Know the problem you can solve. A business you want to do should not be all about you but what can meet the needs of people, “You are not in business because of yourself but for the target market.

“Think deep, start small and start now. Entrepreneurs are dogged people. The difficulty, challenges will come but see the challenges as opportunities” Fisher said.
