Buhari’s son injured in bike accident

Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari, is said to be in stable condition in hospital following injuries he sustained in a power bike accident.

The incident was said to have occurred while riding the bike around Gwarimpa area of Abuja on Tuesday night.

An online medium had broken the story earlier on Wednesday, saying  that Yusuf suffered a head injury and multiple fractures.

The reporter quoted a family source which said: “Yusuf was trying to overtake his friend when he suddenly veered off the road and skidded. He lay there unconscious for a while before the first lady was alerted.”

The report further said: “She ordered that he, be immediately rushed to Cedarcrest Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. We are more concerned about the head injury than the fractures. As I speak to you, Yusuf is unconscious.

“An air ambulance may take him out of the country any moment.”

The Presidency has now confirmed the incident saying that the president’s son indeed had a bike accident on Tuesday night night around Gwarimpa in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, to the president, Garba Shehu in Abuja on Wednesday, Yusuf broke a limb and had head injury.

The three-paragraph statement declared: “Yusuf Buhari had a bike accident last night around Gwarimpa in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja

“He broke a limb and had an injury to the head as a result. He has undergone surgery at a clinic in Abuja. He is in a stable condition.

“The President and his wife, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, are thankful to Nigerians for the good wishes and prayers for their son.

“May God reward you all.” she said.
