Buhari’s rally: Hold APC responsible for eventual increase in crime in Lagos ― PDP

Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday called on Lagosians to hold the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) responsible for what it tagged “any eventual increase in crime in the state,” especially after the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state for his presidential campaign.

Buhari is the APC presidential candidate and preparations have been to receive him in the state as he would be attending a campaign rally at the popular Teslim Balogun in Surulere area of the state.

The party raised this alarm in a release issued by its spokesperson, Mr Taofik Gani, alleging that the APC, in its desperate bid to give the president semblance of a mammoth crowd at its rally, had now brought in many non- Lagos voters from outside the state and even outside the country.

“The PDP posits that the APC in its desperate bid to give the president semblance of a mammoth crowd at its rally, has now brought in many non-Lagos voters from outside the state and even outside the country,” PDP said.

The party said these persons were seen entering the state in trailers, buses and trains, while some of them were now lodged in schools, NYSC camp and premises of government agencies.

“They will be facilitated into the city from 6 am tomorrow,” PDP said,  alleging further that “the free train rides announced by the APC is diversionary as it is just a means to transport the ‘mercenaries’ into Lagos state.

“Many of these paid supporters now from as far as neighbouring countries are going to remain in Lagos and without any means of livelihood, they will eventually become criminals in the state.

“We, therefore, call on security agencies to be on red alert, just as we call on Lagosians to hold the APC responsible for the imminent rise in crime following this swell in immigration,” the party said.

“The PDP wonders why the APC is so desperate in its preparations so much that it is increasing in its penchant to be inconsiderate to Lagosians in its decision making,” the party added.
