Since President Muhammadu Buhari left his desk at the Presidency and proceeded on vacation, rumour mongering and inhuman speculations have taken over among Nigerians. Some said he was dead while some stated that he was in an intensive care unit.
A similar unfortunate scenario played out during the administration of late President Umaru Yar’Adua. Good health is a hidden treasure that millions cannot buy and there is no need for the president to rush back home when his health has not improved.
The president’s job is not a tea party; it demands a lot of physical wellness and mental alertness. Buhari will bounce back and return soon.
Genuine citizens should continue to pray for him so that he will be strong and energetic enough to return to his desk and put Nigeria in its rightful place, even in the face of enormous challenges, including hunger, scams, corruption, certificate racketeering and fraud in the land.
Buhari should be commended for his efforts so far. We learn that the president did the right thing by handing over to his deputy in acting capacity. This has been a rarity since May 1999. It is a plus and in the best interest of the country, because the highest office in the land abhors a vacuum and nobody will see him as blinded by inordinate ambition. History will remember him very well.
Mr Femi Adesina is also doing a good job as Adviser on Media to the President; he is bringing morals and an excellent capacity to the State House. He should continue to dish out the right information to avoid inhuman speculations.
