Buhari supports new initiative to revive Katsina economically, socially

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged his full support to a new initiative aimed at reviving his home state, Katsina, both socially and economically.

Buhari, who is currently in his hometown Daura, Katsina State, after relinquishing power to Bola Ahmed of the same party, APC, following the 2023 general elections, is scheduled to grace the occasion of launching a new movement, the “Katsina State Consultative Forum.” The forum is created to discuss and diagnose the state’s problems.

The Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Abubakar Dan-musa, disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday, emphasizing that every sensible citizen of Katsina must be appalled by the deteriorating situation of the state, both socially and economically. That is why they initiated the Forum to find a lasting solution to the problems.

Dan-musa stated that the Forum aims to discuss and brainstorm a plan of action on the menace of drug abuse, which he said is the backbone of the social problems bedeviling the state.

“A large population of our teeming youths is into drugs. The terrible thing is that you even find married women taking drugs. This is dangerous to our society. Something must be done to address the situation.”

“We are parents and grandparents. We cannot fold our hands and watch our society rotting.”

“We are going to discuss our social and economic problems one after the other and plan ways of tackling them.”

The Forum’s chairman mentioned that State Governor Malam Dikko Radda has pledged his full support for the Forum’s cause, as well as knowledgeable individuals such as Dr. Usman Bugaje, the emirs of Katsina and Daura, Ulamas, students, women groups, and other well-meaning citizens of the state.

He announced that Sunday, December 31, 2023, has been fixed as the maiden day for launching the initiative named the “Katsina State Consultative Forum.”
