Buhari is in robust health and sustained recovery ―Osinbajo

L-R: President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has said the President Muhammadu Buhari is in robust health and sustained recovery.

This was even as he said the president would soon come back and continue with the good work he has been doing to the people of Nigerians.

Osinbajo made this known while speaking during the commissioning of the N24bn Zaria water project in Zaria on Saturday.

Represented by the National chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, he remarked that, “Today’s event signifies that the APC means business. This was a project the PDP failed to do in sixteen years when they were in power.”

“But today we are here to witness the commissioning the water project completed by one of our most visionary governor.”

Speaking at the event, the Emir of Zaria, Alh Shehu Idris has said the completion of the Zaria water project by the administration of Nasir el-rufai was a dream come true.

The royal father recalled how 40 years ago, a former president asked him to tell him what he wanted the government to do in his emirate since he has only two months to leave office.

According to the emir, he told the then president that he wanted nothing but to ensure that his community has portable water.

“Indeed, the former President kept to his promise by bringing water to my people but because of the growing population, the water service could not cover the growing population.”

“It is my dream to see this becoming a reality. Thank you Mr Governor for making my dream come true,” he stressed.

Earlier, the state commissioner for water resources, Alh Suleiman Aliyu Lere disclosed that the foundation of the Zaria water project was laid by the former governor of the state Namadi Sambo in 2008 at the cost of N15bn and water later reviewed to N24bn.

In his own remarks, the former vice president, Namadi Sambo commended the state governor for completing the project.

He said, he was not surprised because the governor whom he knew 40 years ago is a goal getter, saying that, “once he set himself on something he finishes it”.

Speaking on the water project, Governor Nasir el-rufai said the Zaria water works was installed in 1939 with an initial capacity of 10m litres and is currently not functioning, pointing out, in 1975 it was upgraded to 50m litres but the operating capacity of both cannot meet the 140m litres per day capacity.
