Buhari rejoices with Gbong Gwong Jos at 70

President Muhammadu Buhari had rejoiced with the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman, Council of Chiefs and Emirs in Plateau State, His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

According to a statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) Sunday, the President joined family, friends and the people of Jos in thanking God for bestowing benevolence on His Majesty in a lifetime of service as a public servant and later as a traditional ruler.

President Buhari thanked Gbong Gwong Jos for serving his community with dignity and wisdom, unwavering in his commitment to peace and stability in the Plateau since ascending the throne of his fathers in 2009.

He prayed that the Royal Father’s avowed devotion to the unity of the country and passion to better the lives of those around him will continue to inspire generations to come.

President Buhari also congratulated the winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize for Literature, Abdulrazak Gurnah, a former lecturer at Bayero University Kano.

In a separate statement, presidential spokesman, Adesina noted that in winning the prize, the Swedish Academy highlighted the Tanzanian novelist’s ”uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effect of colonialism and the fate of the refugees in the gulf between cultures and continents.”

It said President Buhari believes that given the ignoble experiences of Africans and people of African descent in the past, all forms of race-related vices and injustices have no place in modern history.

The President, therefore, saluted the bold African voices using the arts, music, literature and sports to stress that our world is better when we treat one another with dignity and respect.
