Buhari must ensure all-inclusive cabinet—Bishop Ogundeji

The Diocese of Egba West of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Bishop Samuel Oludele Ogundeji of has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to be fair in the selection of members of his next his cabinet and other key positions.

Bishop Ogundeji made the call while delivering the bishop’s charge at the third session of the fourth synod with the theme: What shall we do, at St. Matthew’s Church, Mowe, Lagos-Ibadan, Expressway, on Friday, just as he charged the president to ensure all religious bodies were segregated in order not to cause any negative reactions.

“No religion must be given greater prominence than the other, because our country is a multi-religious nation. President Buhari and his cabinet must also intensify  effort at tackling all the pressing challenges especially concerning the security issues, healthcare system, road network, education, agriculture, unemployment and power supply.”

Ogundeji, in his charge also commended the outgoing Governor Ibikunle Amosun led-government in Ogun State, particularly on its efforts on the development of rural and urban areas, urging the incoming administration to continue the good works, as well as, create new opportunities.

He also used the occasion to admonish Christians against all worldly things. “The church must go back to its former ways so that it can be the conscience of the state, because it is difficult to differentiate between the world and the church. Christians that are participating in politics must ensure they do not soil their fingers and bruise their names by their participation in politics.”

In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa, expressed his gratitude to the church and the cleric for the peaceful governance in the Satet in the last eight year.

“We hold your impact in our government with a great high esteem. Bishop Ogundeji is one of the clerics I respect most, because he always stands for the truth. I also want to specially congratulate Bishop Ogundeji and the entire church member on the success of this year’s synod.”
