Buhari in Warri, promises to complete all ongoing projects

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians, particularly Deltans that the Federal Government is committed to complete all ongoing projects for sustainable growth and development in the Niger Delta region.

He made the statement on Thursday at the Warri Township Stadium in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, during the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign ahead of 2019 general elections.

As earlier echoed by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, Buhari said that the Federal Government has done so well for Delta State in the areas of the ongoing dregding of the Escravos river, to revive the Delta seaport

He added that the FG is working to ensure full accreditation of the Nigeria Maritime University in Okerenkoko, kick start the EPZ project and other lucrative projects that will improve the economy of the country.

“God has given us great resources, and we would continue to use them to develop Nigeria to ensure development for all.

“I want to thank the large turnout here such a great number of people, the Minister of Petroleum, has told you about what we have been able to do in Delta State.

“When we came, we were able to do what we can, with the resources available to us, we have done massively well in the areas of food security, we will not abuse trust.

“I assure you that all projects in the Niger Delta would be addressed seriously; our fight against corruption will continue, and we will tackle those looting the country,” he vowed.

Buhari, who had earlier visited the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli and other traditional rulers in the area, urged all Deltans to vote APC from the top to the bottom level of governance, just as he presented the party’s flag endorsing the governorship candidate of the state, Chief Great Ogboru.

In his remarks, Ogboru thanked President Buhari on behalf of Deltans for his good leadership role in the area of development of the region.

“Your anti-corruption fight, we love your doggedness, you’re the general of all generals; we know the next level campaign means a new Delta, to give Delta State good governance, we’re grateful,” an overwhelmed Ogboru enthused.

The National Chairman of APC, Comrade, Adams Oshiomhole, while addressing the mammoth crowd at the stadium, described Delta State as the economic heart of Nigeria.

He warned Deltans not to vote for PDP’s presidential candidate who has vowed to privatised NNPC.

“Atiku said he will sell the oil reserves in Delta, Akwa-Ibom, and oil facilities in Edo State.

“He said he will auction all oil property in Nigeria. I warn you all, I worked with them before.

“Atiku said he will sell Nigeria Airways, he said he doesn’t care of anything, don’t vote anyone who wants to sell your family,” he warned.

Other APC bigwigs, who graced the campaign, include, Delta South Senatorial candidate, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, South-South campaign coordinator, and former Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, Delta Central Senatorial candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege and APC campaign spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, SAN, among others.
