Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, National Youth Committee, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to building a prosperous future for the country, urging Nigerian youths to give robust support to his second term bid as they stand to be the greatest beneficiaries.
Coordinator of the committee, Mr. Kunle Oyewumi, made this call while speaking at the inauguration of the body at Omole area of the state, charging the 114-member committee, representing all the 57 Local Governments (LGs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to go all out and galvanise grassroots support among the youth for re-election of Buhari and Vice- President Yemi Osinbajo.
“Because the youth are the future leaders of tomorrow, we have to give robust support to President Buhari because what he is doing, it is towards building a prosperous nation so that our unborn generations can benefit from decent society,” the coordinator stated.
According to Oyewumi, President Buhari’s achievements to make him deserve the vote of Lagosians and the entire South- West people for a second term in office could be seen in areas such as the reconstruction of Lagos- Ibadan Expressway, the Lagos- Abeokuta Railway Project, the multi-million dollars Cancer Centre at Lagos University Hospital (LUTH), which he described as first of its kind.
Others, he said include the N-Power Project and the Tradermoni Project, among others, from which many beneficiaries have since emerged.
“As you are aware, Mr President has achieved a whole lot in the past few years despite the damage that had been done in the past.
“In Lagos and South- West, you can look at the reconstruction of Lagos- Ibadan Expressway and the Lagos-Abeokuta Railway Project. Tomorrow (Saturday), Mr President is going to launch a Cancer Centre at LUTH that costs millions of dollars. This is first of its kind.
“We have beneficiaries of N-Power Project and the Tradermoni. There are a lot of loans being given to small scale and medium scale enterprises by the Bank of Agriculture and Bank of Industry.

“There is a lot that the president has done and that is the message we are taking to the grassroots,” he said.
Speaking on the task for the committee, Oyewumi said coordinators and secretaries assigned to each of the councils and LCDAs, who he described as tested and men and women of goodwill, were expected to mobilise not less than 70per cent of youth population in the state based on projection nationally by the Directorate of Youth Mobilisation of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign under the leadership of Dr Tony Nwoye.
“Remember this committee was constituted in other parts of the country, including FCT. And if you look at the demography of Nigeria, talk of the population, the youth is made up of 52 per cent.
“So we are going to mobilise 70 per cent of the whole youths across the country because they believe in the projects being championed by President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
Meanwhile, the committee state coordinator, Mr. Kunle Oyewumi, has said that, ahead of the presidential election, the body would launch it’s Signature Tune on February 14th, stating that that programme would involve members decorating themselves in red attire and walk on designated routes in Lagos, all in a bid to drumming support for President Muhammadu Buhari.
