Buhari aborts Zamfara trip due to bad weather

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday cancelled his scheduled trip to Zamfara State to condole with the people over recent terror attacks which left scores dead.

The president left the presidential villa, Abuja Thursday morning for Sokoto state where he commissioned a new three million metric tonne cement plant built by BUA Cement.

He also commissioned a 48 megawatts power plant in the state after which he was expected to proceed to Zamfara for the condolence visit.

However, the Zamfara leg of the trip was called off due to bad weather.

At least 200 people were believed to have been killed by bandits in villages in the state earlier this month.
