Budget 2017: Senate committees to drill Adeosun, Udoma over poor Implementation

Published by

THE Senate on Thursday asked the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun and her Budget and National Planning Counterpart, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma to appear before the Committees on Finance and Appropriations next week.

The senators, who arrived at the decision during the Thursday’s sitting reversed an earlier decision that the two Ministers appear before the Senate in plenary.

Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan, who raised a point of order at the Thursday sitting asked his colleagues to reverse the earlier decision.

He argued that it was better the Ministers make their submissions before the committee.

According to him, members of the joint committee are in a better position to ask detailed questions from the Ministers.

The lawmakers had last week resolved to invite the two Ministers to appear before the Senate in plenary to explain what was called poor implementation of the 2017 Budget.
