BRT-train wreck: Politics aside, Sanwo-Olu, Jandor, Gbadebo commiserate with victims

It was an emotional moment as leading governorship candidates in Lagos State on Thursday visited victims of a train crash at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in the Ikeja area of the State.

It was gathered the incumbent who is seeking reelection, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP)’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour known as GRV and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Olajide Adediran aka Jandor all visited the injured victims at the hospital.

Reacting, Sanwo-Olu declared 3-day of mourning for the victims while suspending all his campaign activities to honour those who lost their lives to the fatal accident.

“Lagos is in a state of mourning and for the next 3 days, I am suspending all campaign activities. All flags will be flown at half mast and tomorrow all civil servants will work till 12 noon before returning home to be with their loved ones during this trying time,” he tweeted.

On his part, LP’s Gbadebo commiserated with those affected by the train crash and also prayed for the bereaved.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the train/BRT collision in Ikeja. My prayers for everyone involved in the accident. We must all do the best we can to help emergency services get help to all affected,” he said.

PDP candidate, Jandor also sympathised with the families of the bereaved and wish those injured a safe recovery.

“I am devastated to learn of the accident that occurred today involving a BRT Bus and the national rail line. I commiserate with those who lost loved ones in this avoidable tragedy and wish a safe recovery to those who suffered mild and severe injuries.”
